There is a vibrant music scene in San Angelo, Texas and we are proud to lead the way in promoting the Blues.

Since we are the only Blues Society and member of the Blues Foundation in West Texas we claim to be the Coolest Club in the West!  But as Texans, we don’t brag, we just produce – a great time together and promote Blues roots music.

In fact we won the city’s Spirit Award for the fun we have and the yearly ‘Simply Texas Blues Festival’ we produce each May.

Come on in and check out the site. It will be updated often and will provide information about us, some blues history, and highlight blues related activities in San Angelo.

Legendary blues guitarist Anson Funderburgh has produced and played lead guitar in The Mill Block Blues album. Proceeds from the album sales has gone to The Blues Foundations HART Fund. To date, I have donated over $10,000 from the album sales. You can verify this by contacting The Blues Foundation http://www.blues.org/#ref=index My goal is to do another $1,000 donation. If you could, please notify the members of your blues society of what we’re doing. You can check us out at our web site http://www.ruffkuttblues.com/ .
Also the title song of The Mill Block Blues is currently a co winner of The Coolest Blues Song of 2011 sponsored by the Big City Rhythm and Blues magazine.

By the way I went to school at Angelo State for one year before I left and joined the Navy back in the 60′s.

Thanks

I went to school at Angelo State for one year until I got my draft notice! Loved it there! I know you love the Blues and so do I. Anson Funderburgh and some of his band members (The Rockets) and I did a blues album called the Mill Block Blues. Anson and I donated over $10,000 to the Blues Foundation’s HART Fund from the sales of the album. We also won the most votes for “The Coolest Blues Song of 2011″ competition sponsored by The Big City Rhythm and Blues Magazine. Please check out our web site for more information. One of my buddies still lived in San Angelo and I will drop by when I go visit him. Good luck and God Bless!
